when you're far away
it all looks so pristine
and you're reassured through words
hope and heart on the screen
everyone around knows exactly where to go
they'll tell you you're a part and then
they'll tell you all they know

we're sailing on an ocean that's all
made of painted glass
slowly moving closer as the
time keeps ticking past
vision that was blurry starts
to form a clearer view
and I'm finding out what I've been told
is simply just not true

you know the rails
they were never on the ride at all

and now we're playing a game
I never wanted to play
in a room where all of our dust remains
swept away
by the hands of the innocent
convinced that it's all for the best

now that we're closer to the shore
we see it staring back
